Lamakaan Amateur Radio Club

The 7th edition of the Lamakaan Annual Radio Convention (LARC-7) is slated for December 14th and 15th, 2024. The event will be held at Muffakham Jah College of Engineering & Technology (MJCET), Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

Registration for the convention will be opening soon and is expected to attract a wide range of participants, including Radio Amateurs, Electronics Enthusiasts, and Hobbyists.

Lamakaan Amateur Radio Club (LARC) was established in 2011 by a group of radio enthusiasts who regularly gathered at Lamakaan, a cultural hub in Hyderabad. The club is dedicated to promoting amateur radio as a personal science, a sport, a social hobby, and a relaxing pastime.

Our founding President was Rajan, VU2KNN (SK), a renowned ham known for his expertise in homebrewing and DXing. LARC hosts an annual event called the Lamakaan Annual Radio Convention and publishes a quarterly journal, QSP, exclusively for its members.

LARC has gained international recognition for producing open-source radios, including the BITX20, VUSDR, BITX40, and uBITX. Members are encouraged to experiment, build, and operate radios and antennas.

Many of our members have been honored internationally for their contributions to amateur radio. Sarath, VU2RS, was present in the Andaman Islands during the devastating 2004 tsunami and was an International Visiting Leadership Fellow of the United States government. Ashhar Farhan, VU2ESE, was inducted into the QRP Hall of Fame in 2017.
