A.R.M (Ajayante Randam Moshanam) is a 2024 Malayalam-language period action-adventure film directed by Jithin Laal in his debut. It stars Tovino Thomas in a triple role, portraying characters from three different time periods: 1900, 1950, and 1990. The story revolves around three generations of heroes—Kunjikelu, Maniyan, and Ajayan—who strive to protect a priceless treasure integral to their heritage in Northern Kerala.
The character – Ajayan, showed as an electrician operates a home brewed transceiver radio at home to talk clandestinely to his girlfriend Lekshmi (Krithi Shetty). Ajayan explains Amateur Radio to his girlfriend, saying famous persons like Rajiv Gandhi, Kamal Hassam and many more are ham radio operators and he is the first in Kerala to get ham radio license.
The director and the team of the movie, did a fantastic movie to weaving Amateur radio into the movie story line seamlessly. The entire scene looks authentic right from the old school style ptt paddle switch, test lamps, ground plane antenna on the roof and much more.
Even though, we had Indian films previously like Ae Watan Mere Watan etc showed the radio, however they missed out the Amateur Radio of the radio. A.R.M could be the first film to show Amateur Radio is a hobby in its true sense
